Hammer corals, a renowned type of large polyp stony coral (LPS), have been a hobbyist favorite for generations due to their iconic presence. Found across Pacific reefs, they exhibit various colors and growth forms, either in wall or branching formations, making them excellent showcase corals for reef aquariums. For lighting, Hammers, Torches, and Frogspawn (Euphyllia sp.) require less light compared to some other corals. They thrive under normal output fluorescents, and while they may extend more readily under subdued lighting, placing them under stronger lighting can enhance their attractive colors. In terms of water flow, moderate movement is recommended. The swaying motion of Hammer corals in the current adds to their visual appeal and contributes to their overall health.
